Highway 212 Collision between Laurel and Silesia
About five miles south of Laurel on highway 212, an accident occurred early Saturday morning where a woman died and two people were injured.
According to Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Richard Starks the two vehicles collided at about 9:20 a.m. It is reported that 64- year old man from the Silesia area, was driving a Ford Explorer and lost control on the icy road thereby hitting a Mazda pickup.
Starks said that the woman didn't get any traumatic injuries and didn't die of any underlying medical condition. Both the drivers were taken to the Billings Hospital by ambulance.
What was responsible for the collision is still not known as alcohol and speed were not the factors according to Starks. Eye Witnesses also reported that both the vehicles were driving at an appropriate speed of 45 to 50 mph at the time of the accident. The southbound lane was blocked for around two and half hours but it was reopened at about 11:45 a.m.
