Garrett Mulder, 19 years old, lost his life after a head-on crash near Shepherd. Mulder was driving a Mitsubishi sports car that was headed northbound at a high rate of speed when he lost control and veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a one-ton pickup. Mulder was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Tillie Hoefer was taken by helicopter to St. Vincent’s and is in critical condition. Authorities say that Mulder was not wearing a seatbelt and alcohol was not a factor. The driver of the truck had only minor injuries.
